Vintage Minor Register
Kyre Park, Worcestershire will be our Rally HQ for the weekend. Owned by Tzaraine Gwyn-Jones, its 40 acres of parkland and gardens were laid out in 1754 by Capability Brown. Considered one of the finest gardens in the county, the park consists of expansive lawns, five serene lakes, tumbling waterfalls, whimsical follies, a Grade II listed Jacobean barn, an ancient ruin and a Norman dovecote. The core of the historic house is 14th century and it has six bedrooms and a two-bedroom apartment, all of which we have filled by us for the weekend. The lawn you see here will be the venue for our Saturday Vintage Picnic - details below.

The Itinerary
Thursday Evening
On Thursday evening, we shall
hold our traditional informal weekend pub reception, which usually includes
a number of overseas visitors,
so the evening typically
takes on something of an international flavour. Details will be posted
here in due course.
The Friday Tour
Kick off the weekend by enjoying a relaxed day of touring and socializing, starting from Kyre Park between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. There will be a lunchtime pub stop and the run will conclude with cream teas on the lawns back at Kyre Park.
Every entrant will receive a complementary Tour Handbook at the start, providing explicit route details and background information relating to the places of interest that we will be visiting along the route.
Saturday
The Jubilee Navigation Rally and Scenic Tour
A spectacular view of the Malvern Hills which overlook the rolling countryside of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
The Jubilee Navigation Rally and parallel Scenic Tour will both start from Kyre Park at 8 a.m. sharp on Saturday morning.
Entrants may elect to compete in the Navigation Rally or simply take
a relaxing Scenic Tour of approximately 60 miles,
wending its way
down hidden byways, through sleepy hamlets and visiting a number of places of
interest, ranging from the grand to the quaint and quirky.
The Navigation Rallyists will be provided with their clue cards and answer cards at the start and will need Ordnance Survey Landranger maps 149 and 150 in order to plot the route.
Meanwhile, the Scenic Tourists will be provided with an informative Tour Handbook which will contain explicit and easy-to-follow route directions as well as a wealth of fascinating information describing the various points of interest along the route.
The Roy Hogg Trophy will be awarded to the best Morris Minor/M Type performance in the Navigation Rally.
The Lewis and Nicholson Trophy will be awarded to the winning team in this traditional challenge between the Minors and the Austin 7's. After their victory in 2024, Team Morris will be defending this year!
There will also be a Team Trophy, awarded to the winning team in the Team Challenge. The Team Challenge will be open to teams of three cars - three of the same marque, model or simply good friends!
There will also be a special trophy presentation for the best non Minor/M Type performance in the Navigation Rally.
Note on MSUK route authorization and insurance requirements. Today's Navigation Rally route is being authorized by MSUK. In addition to the standard RTA insurance, the Navigational Rally entrants will have to obtain a ‘top-up’ insurance from a broker such as REIS or Bluefin. This would also be a requirement if the event was running on a Motorsport UK permit as whilst the permit provides 3rd party cover for damage to property etc., it does not provide cover for the entrants running on the competitive road sections. The weekend Scenic Tours do not require additional top-up insurance as they are not competitive and have no timing element.
Note also that some insurers include cover for MSUK permitted events, but as this is not a permitted event, you may need to take out top-up cover. Worth checking.
On Saturday lunchtime, we will gather for our now traditional Vintage Summer Picnic
Bonnet appetite! The Team Entwhisle picnic at Pre-War Ludlow's Walcot Hall Vintage Picnic 2024. (Phil Jones)
The lawns of the magnificent Kyre Park will play host to our Vintage Summer Picnic on Saturday. Picnics will be provided against advance order. Ordering details will be added here shortly. Or bring your own!
Saturday Evening
The day will conclude with our very special Silver Jubilee Hog Roast on the spectacular lawns of Kyre Park. Entertainment will be provided by the Eureka Jazz Band. Alternatively, there will be a Food and Drink Village established in the hill climb paddock at Bromyard which will open the evening before the Sunday hill climb.
Sunday
Sunday will see the highlight of the weekend as we join with Bromyard Speed Festival to run our very first closed road hillclimb, running up the B4203 from Bromyard. There will be two categories of entry - hillclimbers and those with cars that do not wish to climb the hill and spectators. Regardless of category, we will all be parked together in our own VMR area. Non-climbers and spectators in moderns are welcome to come along and pay on the day.
The paddock will feature large screens on which the climbs can be watched, via automatic cameras on the hill, a food and drink village, special displays and much, much more. As plans evolve, more information will be added here.
Sunday Evening
There will be a Farewell run out to a local hostelry on Sunday evening, in addition to the Food and Drink Village options in the paddock. I'll post more details here in due course.
Accommodation
If you are
planning to attend, be sure to book your local accommodation at your earliest
possible opportunity, because Sunday is going to be a major national event.
