Vintage Minor Register

Finally, took a major step today and got the body off the chassis.
The chassis is in super fine shape and better than what I had expected.

Another picture of the now nearly refurbished Chassis, working on the brakes now.
Meanwhile, removed the bumpers, the rear bumper is being remade just like the front one.

The track rod though still needs to repaired :

Fantastic progress! You definitely need to straighten that track rod. I'd also suggest you swap the front brakes so that the brake cam levers are at the front. The original 1929 Minor had the levers at the back - like you have, and had cables that ran in pulleys through 180 degrees to reach the levers. But since you have Bowden flexible cables fitted, I'd bring the levers to the front. There are two ways you could do this. You could either swap the brake cams and brake shoe fulcrum pins in the backplates, or simply remove both backplates and switch sides, fitting the left one on the right side stub axle, and vice versa. That will then give you an S-shaped cable run which would probably be more efficient, as well as being easier to access the levers for greasing and adjustment.

Your parts and pattern will be on their way by lunchtime today - Pacific Daylight Time.

Looking at the photo again, I think you also have your two front shocks on the wrong sides. As they work on the rebound, they will work in the opposite sense if fitted like this. I'll keep looking!

Started with the body work now, Slowly removing the ash frame ,
The plan is to remove the old unusable wood and replace with new.

At the same time , the sheet metal, has no strength left , so what we are doing is
beating it with wooden hammers and metal hammers to give the required strenght , in the process
working on refining the edges which have bent and become rounded at many places.

You had mentioned the wrong assembly of the Shocks, here are the 2 pictures post " what we think is the right position"

I'll have to take a look at the Mac tonight, but I think the lower arms (in your pictures) are totally enclosed while the top arms are not, and I think the totally enclosed arms go at the top. I could be wrong, so I'll check on my car tonight and let you know. Or perhaps someone else could confirm?

Well of course the Mac has Hartfords, but the fabric saloon has Armstrongs, and I was wrong and you are right - your shocks are now fitted correctly!
