Interesting to note the large mud flaps fitted to the front wings/chassis. I am considering sorting out a similar arrangement as the quantity of mud that gets thrown up gets everywhere over the body.

Harold Hastings discussed the mud problem in a period article. The trouble is that these solutions never look very pretty.

Maybe an option would be to make them removable and only fit them when wet/muddy?
I'll have the same issue with my McEvoy, whose wings are near identical to those of the M.

The flaps may be practical but I can imagine them rusting the lower part of the guard, as in this case -
