Clamp bolts

Ok people here's one for you,

Should my clamp bolts be on the nearside or the offside of the engine? I took them out with them on the nearside but is that not the thrust side?? I thought clamp bolts were meant to be on the non-thrust side of the engine???

The thrust side of the engine would be offside or drivers side.

Thanks for that I am not sure my brain could work this out when all the bits are out of the engine....
