That colour blue - again!

That colour blue - again!
I know we have discussed this in the past - possibly more than once, but can't find the thread(s). What did we decide about Morris blue?
Walter Watson has his tourer is in the paint shop right now, and urgently needs to know the spec.

Re: That colour blue - again!
Got it - looks like Triumph code: 36 - Dark Blue PPG 14871.
Re: That colour blue - again!
Is this definitive? I have traces of paint on UXs door skins but it looks very dark! Will be checking it when work starts in earnest.
if it's got wheels or chips - it'll cost you dear
Re: That colour blue - again!
Nothing is definitive - there is no original code available - just the name Bripal Niagra blue, the specification of which has eluded all research. I agree the colour should be a very dark blue.
Re: That colour blue - again!
By definitive I meant to say has anyone found this colour on an unrestored bit of minor! sort of possibly definitive! or having evidence to support it

Re: That colour blue - again!
Were the door hinges painted on the fabric saloon?
If so there is a good chance of some untouched paint on VG.
I will take a look when I take the body off the ceiling later in September.

Halbe

Re: That colour blue - again!
I have been making enquiries and my local paint supplier says his scanner doesn't work on glossy or dark colours and the blue overspray in the 4 seaters doors is quite dark and only shows as blue when moistened! Will resort to swatches tofind nearest modern equivalent.

Re: That colour blue - again!
Delighted to hear that the tourer is ready for paint - bringing it to Four Marks?

Re: That colour blue - again!
No! I refer to the original overspray in doors and have just been making enquiries towards tracing the colour. Am in discussions over the ash frame though.

Re: That colour blue - again!
So, using a dupont chart the closest i can get so far is either RAL5013 Kobaltblau or 20 C 40, both of which look black under the energysaving bulb in my office!

Re: That colour blue - again!
Hello Toby,
Great !!!
So the blue is indeed a dark shade after all . Is it something like the RAL5013 Kobaltblau or 20 C 40 you mentioned earlier?????
Regards.
