I refer you to the Morris register book on the early years, this has finishing specs but not specific colour matches. My copy is not in Reading and I am! I believe Gideon Booth of the Morris Register knows some of the modern equivalent colours as this was covered some years back in the MR Journal. Anyone got the book to hand or Gideons phone No.? :?

To the best of my knowledge, no sv saloons were ever duotone. The bodies were the same colour all over and these colours followed the normal Morris range for the year in question. Mudguards were of course black, as were the front valences...not sure about the rear on '34 season cars. Some '32 cars I think had a contrasting waistline panel in the middle body pressing
Indeed, I think that apart from the rather strange "stone and brown" scheme on some early ohc cars, these also were monotone schemes.
Sadly, very few Minors that I have seen are finished either in the correct form or colour shade.....including the many that I have had !

I have trawled my old Morris Register journals and have been unable to find the letter from Gideon Booth re colours, it may be in an article but I was sure it was in the letters section! I really don't have enough spare time at present to go through the whole journals, I seem to remember it having an orangey cover! Anyone who is in contact with Gideon might like to find out what colours he knows so we can build up a database for the future? What I did find was that Clive Walker thought he'd found the original grey on his '31sv, it was the bottom layer of grey, and it was equivalent to BS 381C694, dove grey. Also a 1939 book lists Morris green as 52 parts prussian blue, 26 parts lemon chromew, 10 parts black, 6 parts orange chrome and 6 parts white. A sample of blue from an unfaded door jamb on a '30s morris was closest to Triumph dark blue in 1974 and the 1939 maroon (sampled from under the dash of a series E) was closest to the maroon of Ford Anglias. So how about a database for this perenial problem? :?

Hello,

So this is the right color code: 36 - Dark Blue PPG 14871

http://www.teglerizer.com/triumphcolors ... ue%20color

Are we absolutely sure or is delft blue for a dutch minor also a possibility :D

I think a color database is a very good idea, are there any non restored minors out there so that they can have their colours analysed by a specialist ?

Oxford Blue is very very near Delft Blue, but I like the dark blue better?
