WANTED. Starter pinion or pinion & sleeve.
Hi
Just discovered that I have a broken pinion on one of my starters. Anyone got a spare pinion or pinion and sleeve ?
The starter is the standard 6v M35AO type from a 29/30 cammy minor. I would consider a scrap starter complete if the pinion is OK !
Good hunting ! [ For the records it is a Lucas part 250058 , 10 teeth , RH ]

Tony, is this the same as an 8? May have pinion, definitely got an 8 one! Will have a look through bits when I get a chance. Didn't know you could break them!

if it's got wheels or chips - it'll cost you dear

Toby
Not sure if it's the same as an eight one ! However. Don't search yet as I think I might have sourced one. Just awaiting a response by email from one advertised [ although the ad is a wee bit dated ].
Although I say it's broken , Toby , it is in fact cracked right through. Probably a weakness in it due to a flaw or something.
Thanks for response , I will let you know if the one I await does actually materialise.
Cheers.

Toby, Tony,
I think you'll find that the Eight (late 34 to 38) Pinion & Sleeve is Lucas Part Number 250116, 10 teeth and Left Hand rather than right. Series E Eight's (M35G starter) were 250415, 9 teeth, LH.

Hi
Continuing saga ....
Now that I have received the starter pinion . Guess what ? It says 250116 on the box [ although it also says Riley 9 1936/37 and Singer 9 '36 ] .... which does not make it a Minor one. Shucks.
So , I am still in the hunt for a Minor one .
Anyone want this one [ possibly for an 8 ] ?
It does say on the box that it is for a M35 A/O starter ..... aren't SV minors using these ?

I'll have a look to see what I've got and if I have one I can take it to Beaulieu, if you come down bring yours and if it's suitable for my sv we could come to some arrangement? If you're not down then and I find one I'll bring it back with me to Reading after the jumble and post it. Will enquire at a starter specialist who should be there too.

Toby
Thanks for your offers of help etc.
I have Colin coming over from Grimsby tomorrow to have a look at pistons for his car.
He is bringing his SV starter(s) with him for comparison. When I have seen what the SV ones look like I shall be in a better position to assess what to do !!
I cannot make it to Beaulieu this Sept , but if necessary your offer of searching for the pinion I need would be much appreciated.
I will keep you informed.
Thanks again for your offer of assistance. Much appreciated.

I too had a spare set of +30's for Colin, sold to me as minor that turned out to be 8! Shame they can't be modded as they're easier to find tham minor ones.
