Re-wire M Type

When I say re-wire, I'm not really that clever, but I plan to replace some dodgy wiring in the coil/distributor/dynamo region, and particularly the connection of positive side of the coil to the ignition.
Any tips/pics on how best to route the wires would be very welcome.
Is the dash removed just by unscrewing the 3 nuts behind?

If you just remove the metal panel it will save having to disturb the steering column. You will need to unscrew the speedo drive at the back.

Thanks Ian, yes it was the metal panel I was refering to. Hadn't thought about the speedo drive, but at least compared to my MGB it's reasonably accessible.
I understand the wires aren't colour coded like moderns, and are cotton tape wrapped with coloured identifiers at the connection points
