Hi guys
I have a well worn DS4 distributor and need to replace it, anyone have one in good conditions they are willing to sell or at least new cap, rotor arm and points so I can refurbish mine.
Thanks

all parts available from various suppliers or ebay, or have it overhauled by "the distributor doctor"

I have a couple of spare DS4's if you need one - I dig them out today and take a close look at them. I also have a couple of the slightly later D41's if anyone is in need.

I had my M8 S2 distributor overhauled by the "Distributor Dr", not cheap, not quick, but what a difference.
Well worth the money, if he has the bits to do it.

Ok I had another idea, I have a spare DJ4 lying around from my (dare I say it) Austin 7. Does anyone know if that will fit instead of the DS4 as they look the same size??

Lee,
It will fit as the later SV Minors had the DJ4. But the drive end is different on the Seven, so you'll need to knock out the pin and swap the drive dog on your DS4 onto your DJ4, which I think is probably gear driven.

Ian,
Thanks for that I might do that in the short term to sort out these issues. Do you know if the amount of manual advance swing in the DS4 as I think the DJ4 is about 18 degrees and is this enough or do I need to set the static timing differently as I think its normally set at TDC on full retard

Lee,
I think they'd be about the same, but the advance/retard plate is separate to the distributor anyway, so could you not attach the plate from your DS4 to your DJ4? The Seven had a plate with a pointer on it - the Minor has no such pointer, and no scale on the distributor body.

I could try that as long as the diameter of the distributor is the same on both types so it will fit inside the plate, if that's the case it should be no problem.
