Hi everyone.
A bit of good news. CV3487 is now back on the road
It feels good driving it again because the last time was at last summer's rally when it broke. (One or two may remember it was losing oil at a rate of about a pint every couple of miles).
I sourced a flange from a chap Paul Rogers knows in New Zealand but when it arrived it also had a crack in it.
That put me back to square one, so i resigned myself to upgrading the crankshaft to the better tapered sort.
Dave Cooksey kindly provided a choice of several "new" crankshafts, so after much work the engine was reassembled.
I haven't done a project like this since i was 18 (when i stripped my mini down) so i was very grateful to Dave and especially Paul for some guidance and tips.
Thanks to all forumists who offered advice and encouragement
See you at a rally
Colin
