RAF Colerne, Wiltshire

Post by Ian Grace »

While scanning around for future event locations, I took a look at the former RAF Colerne on the downs just north of Bath. Flying ceased there in 2019 and now the Army has it. On our Bath Rally in 2002, we gathered on the airfield to watch the VSCC sprint.

The airfield has a reprieve from closure but is due to be closed by the MoD next year and then it will very probably be covered in houses, which would be a great loss.

A petition has been organized to obtain permission from the MoD hold a fly-in on the airfield to raise funds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The petition can be found at https://www.change.org/p/temporarily-op ... ble-fly-in

Please feel free to sign it if you feel inclined to help this worthy cause, and remembering that the Register's new designated charity is the Midlands Air Ambulance. Every little bit helps.

Thanks,

ian
