I've heard that LED bulbs are not so great for the headlamps; bright but not providing such good light on the road. I wonder if this is because their larger size compared to a filament does not produce a less well-focused beam.
Could anyone with experience please comment?

Re: OHC Minor fuel taps - how to stop leaking
I've had a related problem that I also ascribe to modern fuel. Ongoing problems with rust blocking the carburetor were finally solved by fitting a fuel tap with a protruding filter. This has the drawback of having no reserve but has solved the rust problem and has worked fine for a few years now wit...

Re: OHC sidelamps - Beaulieu?
Hi Ian: I've been thinking about converting to LED lamps - for brightness and much lower electrical load. I found a company called "Classic Dynamo & Regulator Conversions" (http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com) that supplies combined side/flasher bulbs, and much else, that will do...

Re: Summer Rally and Pre-War Prescott 2014
Hi Ian:
We leave Spain tomorrow to pick up my MG and drive to Prescott on Friday. I just wanted to thank you for all your hard preparatory work - I am sure that it will be yet another great event - and wish you a good trip.
See you at the Shutters!

Insurance Recommendation
In recent years, I've been getting steadily disenchanted with Footman-James. Since they were taken over by Aon in 2007, my premium sky-rocketed and customer service became a misnomer (Aon recently sold FJ, having presumably extracted what it could from its customers). This year, problems with my ren...

I can highly recommend Oliver Richardson, who knows and works with Dave Cooksey. Oliver specializes in MGs but might be interested in this challenge. I will see him just before PWP and can ask him if you wish.

Re: Planning for 2014
Thanks Trevor. What I really need at this stage is to get some overall advice on the best way to get from A to B from someone who knows the area. I will then plan the detailed route exactly as you describe. As you say, it's great to be able to actually view the critical points along a route.

Re: Planning for 2014
I am not sure whether this the right place to post this question but here goes. Inka and I are thinking of attending the Northern Weekend but are a bit intimidated by the thought of driving our 1931 M-type from just outside Northampton to Loweswater. We don't want to use motorways but the distance (...

Re: Great story involving an M Type MG
This is fascinating, particularly since my own MG (1931 Sportsmans Coupe) bears a registration mark (GG 3949) that is very close to this one (GG 4027). The odd thing is that the MG that belonged to Rolf Kolling has a much earlier chassis number (2M/2226) than mine (CM/2917) but a later registration ...

Re: Distributor wobble
Despite my misgivings, Oliver Richardson convinced me to install a VW distributor on my 1931 M-type Sportsmans Coupe. This has a heavier body than the open cars and so can feel a bit sluggish. I was reluctant to replace the "original" distributor as it had been on the car since I bought it...
Re: KR 5670
Ian: I was very interested to read about the column control unit. I was always fascinated, and puzzled, by the headlights on my car (1931 MG M Coupe). These are larger than on most M tourers and have separate inner reflectors (like that on one of your lamps) connected to a small piston in a cylinder...
Re: WV 215
Well, I never thought that I would see a picture of a Honda CRX on this website :D. On reflection, that's appropriate! The color even looks like ours; too seldom used for normal activities because we became overprotective after the new paint job required by an attack by an enraged cat ! It'...
