Re: Daft Question.
Sadly, the 6v lights on any Minor are no match for the oncoming searchlights on some footballers wife grotesque BMW or Volvo Chelsea Tractor. When I first started using a Minor for everyday transport in 1963, there were still a lot of 6v cars on the roads (upright Pops etc) and things were not too b...

Re: Help - modern windbreak!
Alistair,
It might be worth giving the MG Owners Club a call (HQ in Swavesey, Cambridgeshire). I seem to recall that some time ago something similar was being offered for the MGB. They might be able to supply the name of whoever was making them.
All the best,
Paul.

Re: Prop shafts
These prop shaft lengths are very confusing. I have a 2" diameter one 45 7/8" overall spider to spider. This I believe came from either the '34 lwb Family Minor I broke some years back or a pre-series 8. Not sure. Whatever, it is available free for anybody who has a use for it and can coll...

Re: Two Saloons for sale
When I first saw this car at Mike's garage years ago, she had the plates on from DF 9053...although of course I knew that she was not DF. DF was residing a few miles down the road. The previous owner who had both cars clearly resented paying for more than one road tax in the days when you had to pay...

Ian, I totally agree with Jeremy, publication of this would do more harm than good. As you know, I am not, and never have been, a fan of the VSCC but I would defend to the last the right of anybody to do what they wish with their cars. I particularly recall one idiot in the 1960's who rolled his ver...

Re: 1931 £100 Minor on eBay ends 18th May
I was always under the impression that for the 1932 season, the chrome radiator two seater with a four speed gearbox cost something like £105 ex works. There was a three speed version on offer (with chrome radiator) at £100. Can somebody confirm this as I could well be mistaken. The grey tourer on e...

The Automobile Magazine. 1987 & 1988.
Continuing the big clear out to make room for yet more 10/4 parts and literature, I have come across two complete years (24 copies) of The Automobile Magazine - 1987 & 1988. In very good order mostly, a couple of copies have a bit of minor damp damage but all readable . Too heavy to bother with ...

Re: Another family 8 on ebay
What a sad little car. Price is about three times what it is worth in its present state. The missing parts are, of course, the most difficult to find. Lamps should be easy, engine / gearbox possible....but where the heck do you find the correct twin bladed bumpers. Is it my eyes, or do the wheels lo...

Re: Hubcap removal
In my youth, when I couldn't afford anything better, I fitted ordinary engine core plugs to the wheel centres of DF 9053. These had a small bolt welded to the back and secured with a short bar and nut. They polished up very well and looked the part although of course they were not engraved. When I h...

Re: Which Oil is Best ?
I used Duckhams 20/50 for years, despite awful warnings what it would do to the cork clutches in my 10/4, Bullnose and Flatnose cars...never had any problem and oil pressure good.
Now use Halfords Classic 20/50 and , if anything, find it holds the pressure when hot slightly better.

Re: front brake cable conversion.
Jeremy is quite right, the Sports & Vintage product is quite excellent...as is all their stuff.
I have used this on both ohc and sv Minors in my time, the bracket to fit the top stub axle bolts is the way to go and is easily fabricated.

Re: Rear shock absorbers.
Hello Mike, Good to hear you on line. The 10/4 tourer you did for me in 197? still looks good and in the hands of MR chairman I think up North. Do you still have your Flatnose? Re the shockers, I found that with my '34 Minor the pear shaped ones were worse than useless and the Armstrongs likewise. T...

Re: Exhaust.....
One of the great glories of the pre-war Morris is the exhaust note and it's worth taking a bit of trouble to get it right. I got a very good and accurate reproduction silencer for my 10/4 from a guy in the MR, no longer trading...it's one of these that is also on DF 9053 (or was when I had her). The...

Re: Petrolift Fuel Pump
From bitter experience, the best thing that you can do with a Petrolift is to polish it up and place it in your Trophy cabinet. Totally unreliable, hence of course the rapidly introduced SU pump that we all know and curse. When I had my 1932 Ten Coupe, I got a very good repro label from one of the M...
