Re: 4.00X19 Tyre Size
Thanks Jeremy, I would like to go for the larger size so will look at the modifications you suggest. However I think I will also need to drop back the front wings as by just limiting the lock will mean I have to do a 10 point turn just to get around a corner as these tyres run so close to the panels...

4.00X19 Tyre Size
I was planning to replace my current 3.50 x 19 tyres with 4.00 x 19, which I believe are the correct size for a M type Midget. However when I fitted them to the car the front tyres are rubbing against the rear edge of the wing and inner wing when the steering is turned. Is 4.00 x19 correct and if an...

Re: Overcharging
Thanks for all the advice. Over the weekend I isolated the issue down to the dynamo. I readjusted the 3rd dynamo brush and all is OK. Therefore it must have been shorting out. I was going to dismantle and try and trace the problem but the thought of removing the dynamo again made me think again. I w...

Re: Overcharging
Hi Jeremy,
A couple of good suggestions, i do have the cover loose at the moment so I can look into the dyanmo, but it could be arking. I will try over the weekend. I also thought about take the warning light bulb out to see if there is a back feed into the f terminal.
Regards
Peter

Re: Overcharging
Hello Jeremy, The dynamo is a Lucas DDS and the car doesn't have the summer resistor. The dynamo was rebuilt by Wood Autos due to a worn shaft and has been working well. Therefore it is a new dynamo in a restored car. I adjusted the output by moving the third brush and I also cleaned the cutout poin...

Overcharging
I have an overcharging problem. Gradually rising the revs from tick over the output form the D+ terminal is fine, rising to 6v and with the warning light dimming. However as soon as the cut out closes the voltage suddenly rises to 10v and the warning light comes back on very brightly. I thought it c...

Re: Leaking fuel taps
I also had the same problem with my fuel tap on my M type but the advice from Vintage car parts http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/en/help.phtml?Category=/taps,+pipe+and+fittings/taps/in+line/ worked. The cork in my tap as well as being dry had also cracked so bought some 1/16th cork gasket from Vinta...

Re: Crankshaft end float and Torque settings
Thanks Ian, I will remove the starter and use the ring gear to lock the engine. Also the vertical shaft nut and bolt do have lock washers.

Crankshaft end float and Torque settings
I am now the proud owner of a reconditioned dynamo for my OHC M type and have a couple of questions which hopefully someone out there can help me with. 1. While the dynamo is out I checked the crankshaft end float, which at 12 thou needs a shim taken out to reduce the end float to about 4 thou. Howe...
