Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
I have today been informed that the Part Number shown on the front springs is a Morris 8 number, and that the rear spring with the large front eye/rubber insert is for an early Morris 8.

Re: Worn road spring eye - solutions?
Inspector Poirot Brock might have identified my spare front springs. He has found a spring that he had bought as a spare. It was Labelled as Morris 8. See Photos. Peter then found that his 34 LWB did in fact have the same type of springs as mine ie not rebound springs above main leaf with only two c...

Re: More brake cable questions
Hi Richard, with JF 4238 (1933 Saloon) , the pulleys did turn the cable through 90 degrees. I use the standard cables as supplied by Ian Harris.

Re: Worn road spring eye - solutions?
Wonder if they were designed for an off-road, Sports Utility Minor that needed that extra bit of ground clearance? (2 spring thicknesses)

Re: Worn road spring eye - solutions?
Now I did wonder what would happen to the length of the spring when under load. There was not a H + S expert anywhere in sight, so popped in vice and turned the handle as much as I dared. Did not do such a good job positioning the tape measure, but the spring in the photo has 26 1/2" between ey...

Re: Worn road spring eye - solutions?
Just had the tape measure out. My springs are 26 1/4" (centres of the eyes [unloaded]). 2 3/4" from a surface to the top base plate on the spring (spring sat on the surface resting on the outer diameter of the eyes) . (4 5/8" to the bottom base plate. Leaves are 1 1/4" wide. Does...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Does this Part number help? It does not match the numbers that I can see in Harry Edwards's book? His book does show the main spring as being 'sandwiched'?

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
I have put together a spreadsheet that list the spares that I have for sale along with an asking price. Not sure how to upload the spreadsheet (Ian, are able to upload it someway?), so if you are interested in any of the bits, eMail me (JPallis001@AOL.Com) and I will send you a copy of the list. I h...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Morning All, as we speak (I write) 806 YUJ is on a trailer bound for Surrey with its new owner John Olley. We popped a blind fold on to make the journey less distressing. Blindfolded.jpg John has an interesting background with Minors, albeit some years back. I hope he will share it here as he report...

Hi - Do not think that I will be able to attend either of the events in July. Hope all goes well. As always, amazed at your energy and appetite for hard work! You might recognise the Hotel in the photo below? with Jeff's Minor in the foreground as he approaches a checkpoint on this years Beamish Ral...

Re: 806 YUJ (JF 4238) 1933 Minor Saloon
Thanks Ian. Not at all sure what I will look for. I quite enjoy driving the Minor. It was my first experience of driving a Pre-War car. Was amazed at its ability to climb hills, albeit in low gear. And of course its ability to navigate the rivers that you sent us along last year as part of the Presc...
