Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Sisters are really useful! - today we managed to complete the last seat cover. Just need to tension them + fix to frames. Will start on the door cards next. Can anyone point me towards a photo that shows what a 1933 door card + rear arm rest should look like? can anyone recommend any sheet material ...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Thanks Ian - I have two headlamps. One has a holder for a single filament bulb, no sidelight hole in the relector and has a dippling solenoid. The other has a holder for a twin filament bulb and a hole for a side lamp {no bulb holder}. Both glasses are just that, sheets of cut glass, not lenses? So ...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon

Talking of Exhaust pipes; I have just stripped down the exhaust fitting that I have from what was left of the old exhaust pipe and have bought some 32mm tube.I am ready to have a go, but do not know the distance from the manifold joint to the 90 Degree bend. Anyone able to help? After positioning/fo...
Re: RT 8431
Listening in on the Headlamp conversation: what type of reflectors/bulbs do people fit? Re-silvering sounds expensive, is it possible to source/ 'cut down' ayny reflectors that are readily available + will take bulbs with main/dip filaments? My 1933 Saloon does not have side lights. How will the MOT...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Nearly finished the Ash frame for the passengers side door but need to find out whether the lower part of the door skin should be 'staight' or whether there is a 'curve' in it {front to back} - any ideas? might it have the same curve as the top of the door? (see photo 2 that shows the section of the...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Thanks Trevor - somewhere I have seen a data sheet that tells me the distance from the gudgeon pin to the top of the piston, anyone know where that info is? Is there a right and wrong way to assemble the con-rods? {look to be symetrical} - anything else not to forget when assembling the engine?

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Starting to put the engine together. I have test fitted the crankshaft and have pumped oil through the oil way that feeds the front whitemetal bearing - everything looks OK - oil is finding its way right through the crank shaft but a lot of oil does get out of a small hole that is drilled into the o...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
You have convinced me that I should just re-fit it and see what is does/does not do. I set out to drain the oil, but there was none in - must be the delux, self draining model that you describe! Fire wall: originally the fire wall was fitted in front of the bulk head surround panel, having seen some...

Re: JF 4238 1933 Minor Saloon
Now that release bearing looks to be an expensive lttle thing! - will try fitting a new set of ball bearing first. Now to the gearbox; I am not going to take it to bits, every previous attempts at gearboxes provide me with jam-jars full of balls and springs. But there was evidenec of a lot of oil in...

Getting quite good at flooding the garage floor with ball bearing! Any experts on Release bearing out there? How do you get the inner and outer bearing races out of the housings? any tricks or is it bought as an assembly?
