Re: The Gilg Expedition - 80th Anniversary
Hi Duncan - I see you are 'local' - I have a 1933 SV Saloon and live close to Bishop Auckland; Jeff (Sprocket) has a soft top (also Bishop) and Peter Brock is working on a 4 door saloon in Newcastle.
I often have a drive to Northallerton etc - are you 'on the road' with a minor?

Re: Bowden conversion of the Minor braking system
Does anyone have the dimensions of the bracket that bolts on to the knuckle/swivel assembly? I am sure that somebody, at some stage told me that it was possible to use the handbrake cables from a post-war Minor for this conversion?

Re: Happenings
Weather in Durham was nearly as good as the forcast with a little sea mist added. The picture from the Pier should show Tynmouth Abbey in the background! The traffic in Sunderland at 10 am was well behaved but they do keep adding additional bus lanes, just to confuse. I suspect that some drivers tho...

Re: New MoT proposal for our cars
For Information: I have just attempted to renew my Car Tax online. The system refused to process my application because I do not have a current MOT. I do have an MOT valid until 22nd Dec. When I managed to talk to a human, they tell me that if the vehicle is exempt from an MOT, and it still has a va...

Re: A gearbox rebuild
Thanks Sam, that does explain why I do have to be careful when changing both up and down gear. Has anyone any experience of trying to re-profile the bottom of the gear lever? what shape should it be?

Re: A gearbox rebuild
Now while everyone is talking about gearboxes, from the photos below, can you tell me whether my gearbox is a synchromesh or non-sync gearbox? -- and, what should the end of the gearlever look like?

Re: Northern Weekend 28th/29th July 2012
Honey and Heather Rally: not another Morris in sight and not even an MG in the car park. Three Austins and lot of very nice looking cars that had come from all over the country, just to be on Teleee! The rain hammered down all night but managed to behave itself during the day. We had a pleasant 40 m...

Thanks Ian - I have signed up for what sounds like a nice little ride around in the sunshine (hopefully). Wonder how many 'mountains' that they can integrate into the route?

Clutch Levers
Hi - when I fitted my clutch I could not find any felt washers so I made some out of felt sheet. I notice that they are not surviving very well. Two questions: has anyone sucessfully changed these washers with the engine/gearbox still in the car? - any tips? has anyone replaced these felt washers wi...

Re: Northern Weekend 28th/29th July 2012
I am pleased to report that the weather did, on the whole, behave itself. Some Sun, some rain, some cloud - normal sort of UK summer offering. Sixteen folks sat down for dinner at the Rose and Crown on Saturday night to celebrate an enjoyable and challeging ride around Weardale and Teesdale, and to ...
