The fibre heel that operates the points wears away quicker than the points, hence the gap will gradually decrese over time.

Re: Drive It Day, Sunday 26th April
I forgot to take any photos but I did have my dash cam running, other than speed limited sections and the hill at the start most of the journey was taken at 50mph.

Re: UN 6979
I have treated myself to a cheap dashcam to see how it performs plugged into the 6 volt accessory socket that I fitted, (the sat nav works fine from this 6 volt supply). Well it powers up when the ignition is switched on and records ok, the sound has interference when the dynamo output stops but I a...

Re: head gasket sv minor 1932
I took the tappet cover off and could see adrip slowly forming where the block was porous. Having got over my initial shock I flushed the block through and then treated it with a block sealant.

Re: head gasket sv minor 1932
When I had water in the oil on my engine it was leaking from the bottom of the water jacket inside the valve chest. Nearly eighty years of corrosion had finally made it through! I would be very surprised if enough water was passing the pistons into the sump without having other major problems. The s...

Re: head gasket sv minor 1932
when you say that you have water leaking from the head gasket into the engine do you mean that water is getting into the oil?
The only way for water to get into the oil via the head gasket is fo the water to leak into the bore(s) and the past the piston, unlikely without other problems!

Re: Oil pressure and low power
As the oil is not compressible the pressure will be the same unless it is restricted as in the feed to the ohc.

Re: Speedometer Ratios on Four Speed Gearboxes
That has just triggered my memory, the 4spd Hornet box in my Minor has 3/12 ratio.

Re: Planning for 2014
Hi Roger, I always plan my routes in my 1934 Minor 2 seater using Google Maps, it is possible to start with a basic A to B route and then drag the route to exactly the way you want to go,use "street view" to see what the roads are like and view junctions etc. I type up my own directions wi...

http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii45/wilkts/DSCF0931_zps6d744b6e.jpg Hope this makes sense, it is quite easy. Start by lifting the piston, with it held up wind the mixture adjuster up as far as it goes ( might be an idea to count the flats so you can return the adjuster to the same spot) Then loo...
