Use of original parts?

Here’s a question that has crossed my mind many times while in the workshop, but I have never come up with a completely satisfactory answer one way or the other. So you are in the workshop restoring your car. You have two similar components to select from – one which came off your car and the other ...

VMR Prescott 2008

Just spoke to the VSCC and had to move the date from Saturday 5th July to Saturday 12th July because of a clash with Shelsley on the 5th. So now trying to get the CSMA to shift the Proms concert at Sudeley Castle from the 5th to the 12th so we can meet at the Castle in the evening - concert, battle ...

It attracted no bids at GBP 1,999 starting price, so why not make the vendor an offer and save it?

SV engine block urgently needed for new member

Chris Moorhouse has just joined the Register with a very nice '33 saloon. However, the engine, which was supposedly rebuilt by the previous owner is a mess - the block cracking after just 40 miles! If anyone can help Chris with a replacement SV block, please contact him at candr.moorhouse1@ntlworld....

I once had a Minor with a C Type cam in it - much to hot for road work - lumpy idle and only got on the cam at high revs. Unless you are going racing, I think the 12/12 is the way to go. As a matter of course, I always fit a 12/12 cam and skim the head to standard M Type compression ratio on all my ...

Invite to Bourton-on-the-Water, Sunday May 13th

A date for your diaries if you are anywhere near the Cotswolds. Alastair Kinross from the (post-war) Gloucestershire Morris Minor Club tells me that the club is holding their 21st Anniversary rally at Bourton on Sunday 13th May. You may recall that Alasdair and the GMMC always marshal at our Glouces...

I fitted my nearside front wing today using new coachbolts I bought in England many moons ago. These are very slightly domed - not like regular coachbolts. They have a square section under the heads which is about 1/8" long. I drilled and filed three square holes in the new wing, then cut out t...

The ones I have have a square section under the head like coachbolts, but the heads are much flatter than coachbolts. My wings are new and undrilled, so...
