Re: Morris Minor total production

No I haven't Jeremy. But I know that Ken Martin has assembled a log of Minors in competition pre-war.

Re: Morris Minor total production

As for survivors, I have 493 OHC Minors and 741 SV for a total of 1,234, so about a 1.4% survival rate, although there are probably more SV Minors out there that are not yet on the Chassis Register, so perhaps a 1.5% rate would be close. I'd have to check on the A7 survival rate, but suspect it is g...

Re: Morris Minor total production

The total production of Austin 7's was 290,000 but that was over a much longer time span of 1923 to 1939.

For the years 1928 to 1934, I need my copy of Wyatt, but it's currently on its way to England.

I think the Seven production outnumbered the Minor during these years, but not by a wide margin.

RAF Colerne, Wiltshire

While scanning around for future event locations, I took a look at the former RAF Colerne on the downs just north of Bath. Flying ceased there in 2019 and now the Army has it. On our Bath Rally in 2002, we gathered on the airfield to watch the VSCC sprint. The airfield has a reprieve from closure bu...

Re: The VMR's 25th Anniversary

Just to bring this to the top as a reminder for everyone. Planning will start in the next couple of weeks. I see no reason why it shouldn't take place over our usual third weekend in July, so that would be Friday 18th to Sunday 20th July. And definitely three full days of activities. Time to set thi...

Re: Pre-War Ludlow - 19th to 21st July

A quick note on MSUK and insurance for the nav rally. After clarifying with MSUK, I have just added the following to the Summer Rally web page: "Note on MSUK route authorization and insurance requirements. Today's Navigation Rally route is being authorized by MSUK, with event number 29037JY21. ...

Morris Minor total production

I'm just putting something together for the next magazine on total Minor production. Looking at the data, we have 34,599 OHC Minors and 47,266 SV Minors. However, there were approximately 500 Y-chassis exported to Australia in 1929 and then there were 3,060 GPO vans built after the end of the 1934 p...

Re: DF9053

I'm just having my dynamo rebuilt by Paul Rogers. The keyway at the top gave out, and after removal I found the bottom one was no better, so both ends have been welded and ground back to size and new keyways cut. I'm ordering new sealed bearings. I'm also changing the top forks, vertical drive pinio...

Re: Pre-War Ludlow - 19th to 21st July

Good news! For the Sunday Navigation Rally, you will only need OS map 137. And the Scenic Tourists for both Saturday and Sunday will need no maps, as the route will be clearly detailed in the two Tour Handbooks, to be distributed at the Saturday and Sunday starts. The route tracings and associated i...

Re: Pre-War Ludlow - 19th to 21st July

I've spent much of the last couple of weeks working up the routes for Saturday and Sunday, an iterative process requiring much negotiation with the owners of various stately home, castles and pubs along the potential routes! I have 'driven' the routes several time in Google Earth Streetview in order...

So I found the problem, which the following photos should show clearly: http://www.vintageminor.co.uk/Forumpix/LJ 4435 dynamo fork.JPG http://www.vintageminor.co.uk/Forumpix/LJ 4435 dynamo armature.JPG Clearly the dynamo armature and fork keyways are shot. Additionally, the armature is several thou ...

Re: Pre-War Ludlow - 19th to 21st July

The planning and menu have now been finalized for our Sunday evening Vintage Evening and BBQ, the highlight of which will be the famed Eureka Jazz band. Often seen at Prescott and other motoring events and led by Terry McGrath - Alvis, Austin 7 driver and still racing his Amilcar. Terry leads on tro...

Re: Pre-War Ludlow - 19th to 21st July

I have just added the entry list to the website - link near the top. 43 entries so far including seven Minors. And there are plenty more entries in the pipeline - expected entry will top off around 100 or so. Should be a super weekend.
