Re: Fabric Couplings
I think the idea of a spares section is great. However a considerable investment has to be made to stock items. We could however encourage all members to check with suppliers when we buy special items like this for bulk/multiple purchase discount, and to put the word out to members for interest. Per...

In spite of managing to replace the couplings (Many thanks Highlander), I have decided to put new ones on I have contacted the company that makes these couplings (GMS Polymer Engineering Ltd) and got a quote. I shall order a few so if anyone wants any please let me know before 13 March. :!: There is...

Re: spitting back and won't run!
The symptoms you described were the same as i had, so i was convinced your head gasket had blown between cylinders.
Isn't it amazing that the same symptoms can be produced by completely different faults.
Glad you sussed it though.
See you in Wales

Re: spitting back and won't run!
Hi Bill.
Yes, I had exactly the same problem.
I found the head gasket had disintegrated between cylinders two and three, so they were "sharing" each others' compression, exhaust etc.
I replaced the gasket and the car was back to normal.

Re: Fabric Couplings
Thank you so much Highlander, It was good to meet you and have cup of tea and a chat. Nice place. Have you got your xr3i Escort working now? The Humber is an absolute peach! 8) I have fitted the spares you gave me and they will certainly serve for the next few years. Once I got under the car I found...

Re: Fabric Couplings
Back to the front again  Mine are just about knackered now and i'm finding them difficult to source. Has anyone any clues please :?: I would be willing to buy four so i have a couple of future spares. Someone suggested I bite the bullet and put hardy spicers on but i feel that would be a last ...

Re: Long reach 18 mm spark plugs
After de-coking the threads in the block to get them to fit in the extra quarter inch they seem to make the engine a little more lively.
I had better get the speedometer working so I don’t run the gaunlet of speed cameras now.

Re: All our yesterdays
Hi Guys, Just spent the morning taking the head off the minor to examine a problem with fuel being spat back through the carburettor. The piece of head gasket between cylinders 2 and 3 was missing  I think i did the damage whilst driving a little too quickly along the A25 towards Sevenoaks be...
