Re: UK driving licenses
At 70 you will also need a passport type of photo - as this will be electronically added to your licence card when you get it. The old type of paper licences are no longer used. For quite some time you had to have both - but not any more. Every 3 years you have to re apply for your license with a se...

Re: newsletter 151
My thoughts - as requested. I don't know where Martin has got his gross weight for an M-type from, but it is way out. Remember here I am talking about an M-type [& by default a Minor] tourer. I don't have a clue as to how much more a saloon weighs. Mr Blower's handbook gives the chassis weight o...

My engineering guru - who did all the work on my car - including extensive work on the gearbox, assured me that there would not be an issue with it. We decided that with oil level at it's recommended height, then there would be enough sent thrashing around within the gearbox to keep the gears and be...

Re: Happenings
Ian/Jane Many thanks for the Lakeland Weekend. A quite splendid event - thanks for all your efforts. We had a trip, on Monday, along with the "F" round into the remote and very scenic Wasdale - fulfilling a very long held ambition. We got home OK, as did Bob after having stormed Hardknott ...

Re: Planning for 2014
Ian I am a little dismayed that your recce chappie is claiming up 5G going round corners. Does he have some sort of souped up motor in his vehicle ? I am sure that with my standard 847cc [should it ever run again] I can't get much more than 1G. Claiming 5G is a little irresponsible in these Health a...

Re: Antifreeze
If you drain out the water then you leave lots of nice damp iron to start rusting Next year even more and so on Leave the anti freeze in all the year round. It also avoids the situation of having to explain to the AA man, next Spring, about how you forgot that there was no water in the now seized en...

Just 179 registration numbers from my M-type ST6963.
Have also seen a Morris with ST6862 which is even closer.
Did they all come from the same dealer in Inverness?

Re: A gearbox rebuild
The top 2 images from David show a D-type 3-speed remote.
I have one on my M - works a treat
BTW, Ian, I would have bored you with a pic on my gearbox top but can't find how to attach an image - some clues please, as clicking in the "Img" button just produces gibberish

Re: Improving M type brakes on OG 2438.
More thoughts on poor braking. Check for wear on the steel ends of the brake shoes - excessive wear here reduces the effect of the rotating cam on braking. Also, see if the the top and/or bottom bush housings on the backplates are actually at 90 degrees the the backplates - if they are not then the ...
