Re: Minor re-wire

Hi Mike, As an Eight Series I Tourer owner for thirty six years, I can confirm that the standard set up for the Eight Series E was: Dynamo C45YV - A108 service number 228269, Control Box RF95 service number 37081A, Ignition Switch PLC6. I could scan the wiring diagram I have for an E, if that would ...

Re: Radiator recores

Haven't used this company myself, but I believe they're well respected and have been around for some time - probably also expensive.

Re: 34 Saloon on eBay ends 6th July

Interesting, it says last tax expired February 2008, but how on earth did it pass an MOT twelve months prior to be eligible for taxing, given its apparent condition. It looks as if it's been in this condition for quite some time, possibly years.

Re: Front road springs

Simon, You probably know this already, but an old commercial spares catalogue lists all minor springs, (bar 1929 - 31 fronts) as being 1·25" wide x 5 leaves + 2 rebound leaves. It suggests that 1932 - 34 fronts are all the same spec and part nos; 1930 - 31 rears are same spec & part nos; 19...

Re: Which Oil is Best ?

Alister, It may be worth checking the condition of both of your spare larger capacity pumps before fitting either, the following instructions apply to the Morris Eight pump, but may also be applicable to the Minor, as they both use a similar pair of rotating gears housed in a cast body. Measure the ...

Re: Which Oil is Best ?

Highlander, As a Morris Eight owner myself, 1936 Series I Tourer, I think it unlikely that the two pumps you have are Morris 8, as they differ in many ways from S.V. Minor pumps. I notice however that there was a change in part numbers for the S.V. Minor oil pump body, idle spindle, spindle & ge...

Re: Gas welding

Lots of information on gases, equipment and safety, though no prices on BOC's site. You would more than likely have to rent and have the bottles refilled at a BOC outlet. A number of other trade suppliers sell 'PortaPac' type gas welding kits, which contain everything you need including a wheeled tr...

Re: Minors in competition

Highlander (Alister), There's a lot more trials footage on YouTube, particularly if you don't mind watching Austin Sevens and other cars in action, just type Austin Seven into the empty box above the video title you've been looking at, which was "VSCC Brooklands January 13th 2008" make sur...
