Did the films turn out to be where I suggested? Good news that you found them.

Re: An engine built from bits
Barry, The rollers can be replaced by sealed ball races with a spacer between them. Inexpensive and effective. The hole in the head needs to be honed out a thou or two as standard races are exactly the same size as the hole so won't quite fit in. The later camshaft as fitted to M Types is available,...

Re: head gasket sv minor 1932
I'm intrigued: what exactly is 'block sealant' ? Also, whenever I have to fit a head I stuff the water holes in the head with a bit a grease - it stops any loose bits falling out onto the nice clean gasket.

Re: Brake cable to rear drum attachment
The David Hinds way sounds right. The outer cable attaching bracket under the shock absorber plate is a simple strip with 3 holes and the cable goes under the axle.

Re: Minor/M type wheels
Several of my wheels have cracked hubs which have been repaired by welding. They have lasted at least 46 years to my certain knowledge. Just find an expert welder to repair them.

Re: Front axle Panhard rod.
The two kits I had left have now sold, but I will be making another batch at some point. Expressions of interest would be useful in working out numbers.
Thanks,

Re: Brake shoes - relinging and repair
I had some brake linings bonded to alloy shoes. I didn't use them straight away and when I did I found they had all fallen off!

M Type exhaust downpipe
I'm having some original pattern M downpipes made. These have to be handmade despite the deceptively simple appearance so are quite expensive for what they are. The price is expected to be in the region of £70 plus vat. It looks as though there are 4 or 5 owners interested so far. Ian IMG-20140106-0...

Re: Rear wheel bearings.
As sv4670 says, with sealed bearings the axle scrolls shouldn't really be needed, which is what I thought too. But somehow the oil kept getting through. The axle scrolls made all the difference.

Re: Gearbox product codes
I have just dug out a Wolseley gearbox which has been 'Fordized' that I bought just in case I could do something with it. It is stamped 112 which makes it a Nine. As far as I can see, it would have had a different bell-housing and clutch and it has a mounting point underneath. I recently went to a f...

Re: Alloy brake backplates
Given the problems people have with the steel backplates, - which would be almost impossible to reproduce,- perhaps new cast alloy backplates are the solution?
Doesn't Toby have some of these?

Re: the gearchange selection, the remote does not reverse the selection. It's exactly the same as a tower. The different selection (Wolseley and MG), is purely due to a different arrangement inside of the selector mechanism. Wolseley boxes for fitting in Wolseley cars had a reversed selection even w...
