Ian I have just noticed this post and I would like to have a proper Spartan horn as mine is a 'replica' with different innards.
Is there a deal to be made or has this long gone?

Re: VMR Pre-War Shuttleworth Weekend
Ian we had a very pleasant day on Sunday. The weather was good and there were some wonderful cars displayed. As you know 4 Minors, lots of MGs and a few Hornet Specials, as well as the aircraft. A Dragon Rapide that made about 5 flights and the Nine Tigers display team that gave an impressive displa...

Re: clutch shudder
I had the same problem when I bought my car. I discovered it was a question of clutch adjustment with the levers not disengaging / engaging evenly. Take off the clutch inspection cover and check / set up the clutch with the 3/32" gap between each lever and the withdrawal race. With luck that wi...

Re: Gear selectors, urgent advice needed
Peter, I also thank you for your magazine write up and the pictures of the gear shaft. These provides the clearest view yet of the assembly. I still have a gearbox to re-build but have been a bit nervous without quite knowing what to aim for. I did disassemble a gear selector and after I realised th...

Re: Clutch pedal shaft removal
From what I remember when I did this about a year ago, what you say is correct. The bush needs to freed up on the shaft and bell housing to allow it slip out of position. The shaft can then be slipped out of the bush on the handbrake side and then withdrawn from the bell housing to that side. The pa...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Another fabulous day out on Sunday. We joined some MR friends at the Triumph Sports Six Club HQ in the little village of Lubbenham only a stones throw from here, but we were totally unaware it was there. We then all sat down for lunch in the local pub. UF ran impeccably, pulling extremely well and t...

Re: The VMR Magazine
Ian, I seem to be answering this thread about six years too late!! I read page 1 and then aswered on page 9 - how daft is that. However, I looked around for the on-line magazine (which my last strange post referred to) and could not find it. What am I missing today ? (Apart from a brain)! Martin PS ...

Re: The VMR Magazine
Ian, I would subscribe to the idea. Although I do like to read paper, there is always the dilemma regarding storage of so many magazines, so I might take both formats.

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Thanks Ian. I would think that the issue is more likely a worn distributor shaft as I had this issue when I bought the car and the engine as you may recall is relatively newly rebuilt (2008 & 5000miles) and there is no 'fug' present inside or outide the car. My initial investigation by wiping ar...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
That is an advantage, but the work to fix it takes me into yet more uncharted territory. I have to learn how the distributor is attached and, more to the point, sealed.
I will learn though and this winter will try to get it sorted.

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Ian, for some reason I have overlooked your question and I apologise for that. The answer is that I discovered that the seal in the oil housing was quite loose and I think that when I had the head off to renew the head gasket I must have dislodged it which resulted in the leak. I have now replaced i...

It looks remarkably good for a car that has never been restored. Let's hope that the beauty is more than skin deep.

Re: Summer Rally and Pre-War Prescott 2016
Ian, a fabulous weekend! Thanks to you and Jayne for all the hard work organising it. The Sunday scenic tour was a magnificent success topped off by the fountain. Only one road that was not really 'suitable' but perhaps I'm just a wimp, although it did bring the Oxford temporarily to its knees. We t...

Re: UF 7090 1930 Coachbuilt Saloon
Following a fabulous rally in Dorset when I covered nearly 450 miles in 5 days during which the car behaved beautifully. New fan bearing, new prop shaft fabric discs that removed the prop-shaft vibration and a fix for the loud passenger door rattle. However the camshaft oil leak became so bad in Dor...

Re: New members
I notice that new member Stuart Stubbs has Minor PN6603 which was exhibited at the NEC in the centenary year 2013 as part of the Bexhill 100 Club stand.
So a car with some ready made provenance.
