The 2009 VMR Summer Rally will return to the glorious Cotswolds.
Come and enjoy a wonderful weekend of rallying, touring and socializing
among old friends and new.

Below we hope you will find all the Rally information you need to make your weekend a most enjoyable one.

The Rally Itinerary


Friday Evening

Informal Reception at the Mount Inn, Stanton.

The Mount Inn at Stanton (OS SP 022342)  is one of the loveliest and best located inns in Worcestershire,
renowned for its outstanding local Donnington ale, good food and wealth of history.


Saturday

The Cotswold Navigation Rally and Scenic Tour

The Cotswold Navigation Rally and parallel Scenic Tour will start from the car park of the Plough Inn, Ford (OS 087295)
and take in some sixty miles of the most spectacular Cotswold scenery, calling in at numerous places of interest en route.

The Howard Arms, with a car park full of Morrises!

Lunch will be taken at the Howard Arms, Ilmington.
(Available between noon and 2-30 p.m.)

The afternoon will conclude with cream teas and results at the Plough Inn at Ford.


Saturday Evening

 On Saturday evening, we will gather at the Gardeners Arms at Alderton for a grand buffet dinner.
The Gardeners Arms is a charming Gloucestershire inn situated in the beautiful Vale of Evesham.
It is the quintessential thatched country pub.
And, of course, it serves an enormous selection of fine English ales.


Sunday

Sunday will commence with a round trip from Toddington to Cheltenham aboard the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway.

We will then take the short drive to Prescott for lunch and to spend the afternoon watching
the VSCC's speed hillclimb in the afternoon.  This quintessential vintage event is not to be missed!

During the lunch break, the Sports & Vintage Cup will be awarded to the most meritorious member in the last year.

Sunday Evening

A Farewell run out to the Royal Oak at Gretton.  This attractive pub offers
a traditional feel and a lovely garden with views of the Malvern Hills.
There will be a good selection of food available, and this free house offers an excellent range of cask ales.

(Note that FREE BEER will be provided for those who have marshaled during the weekend!)


Then What?

The VSCC is celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2009 with a week of events in August centred in Malvern, Worcestershire.
The week commences with the VSCC Prescott Speed Hill Climb on Saturday and Sunday (Saturday 1st- Sunday 2nd August)
and thereafter events will be based at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern (from Monday 3rd August – Saturday 8th August).
The week will include a wide range of competitive, touring, rallying, social, sightseeing and fun events, ensuring that there is something for everyone.

Many members of the VMR who are also VSCC members will be attending the week and the VMR is organizing
an Early Morris/MG evening on Tuesday evening at the Farmers Arms, Birtsmorton, Worcestershire.
Invited clubs include the Bullnose Morris Club, the Morris Specials Group, the MMM Register and the Early MG Society.
All VMR members are warmly invited to this evening and if any VMR members who are not VSCC members
would like to join in the fun at Malvern, they are encouraged to join this fine club!  VSCC membership details may be found here,

In particular, note that the VSCC Light Car Section is holding its rally on Friday 7th August.

And on Friday evening, the Morris Specials Group are hosting a gathering at a the Slip Inn, Watery Lane, Much Marcle, near Ledbury,
to which the VMR is warmly invited.  More good company, food and ale!

Finally, a 'Saturday Spectacular'  is being organized by the VSCC on the 8th August
which will be the grand finale of the week and we are planning a VMR gathering on the day.  More details here.


Accommodation

May we suggest that you consider booking your accommodation as soon as possible,
as suitable accommodation in the area will at a premium because of the VSCC Prescott and Anniversary celebrations.
