This just in from Melvyn Tubb:

"Ian

I thought this may be of interest to MGM owners or other interested members.

The MG Car Club (SW Centre) will promote an Historic Re-enactment of the 100 ascents of the Beggars Roost Trials Hill by an MGM in May 1930. The 80 year commemoration is to take place at Barbrook, near Lynton, North Devon on 29 May 2010 between 2-4 pm and on 30 May 2010 between 10-12 am.

The aim is to make 50 non-stop climbs of the hill on each day. During the time each car is making its ascents its engine must continue to run without stopping.

More details of this event are to be found on the MG Car Club website - http://www.mgcc.co.uk - Events Calendar - Triple M Register 29/30 May. Also to be found if you Google 'Beggars Roost trial' and then scroll to Roost+80.

I understand there are about 12 cars entered and I thought this may be of interest to local members.

Regards Melvyn"

I just put this on the website - interesting to compare the 1930 image with the Prescott start line image immediately above it.
