Known to the club tourer being auctioned on eBay now, high start, but will no doubt sell for its MU registration (Manchester United) Find it here:

This is John Smith's old tourer - the VERY last OHC tourer to leave Cowley. It is also extremely original and has a comprehensive history.
It would be a great bopportunity for someone.

There are several VSCC members looking for tourers right now - with the eligibility review in porcess, it will be interesting to see if any of them risk buying this one on the prediction that it may well become eligible very soon!

John Smith sold this car Summer 2006 to a chap in County Mayo.

What do we reckon it will go for - assuming it attracts any bids!

7 bids, bid to 6,000 but didn't reach its reserve. Watch this space.

Well, it looks like the vendor is trying to sell the number plate off this car. It is listed with a number platre company for an undisclosed sum, but the vendor tells us on the eBay page that the plate has been valued at GBP 3,500, which is probably where he gets his price of GBP 8,750 for the car.

There are opposing views about number plate stripping of vintage cars, but in this case, the MU number is intimately linked with the fact that this car was supplied by Stuart & Ardern - the main London Morris distributors, and the car still has its original S&A guarantee plate on the firewall which includes the etched signature of the first owner, so it would be sad to see this car with a BF number! Most, if not all S&A-delivered cards were issued with MU numbers, as they held a block booking of these numbers.

John Smith sold this car on eBay two years ago. I guess the moral of the story is - if you throw your car out on eBay, then there is a high chance that, if it sells, it is not going to get into the hands of a genuine enthusiast. If you have a vintage Minor to sell - offer it through the Register first, as we always have a number of people looking for cars.
