Does anyone have a nut for the splined shaft on a late type Morris 8 or E differential ? These are larger than the usual Minor ones , they are 5/8ths and 16TPI.

Cheers
Ian

You could try Sports & Vintage (Shrewsbury) or google Namrick who have them listed, both slotted and castle nuts. I have a castle one which is part of a spare crownwheel and pinion set which I wish to keep but if you have one spare aluminium taper packing which goes between the front spring and the axle I will do a swap.

Simon, Thanks for the offer and good ideas. I will try S+V first as you are best off keeping the nut with the set. I can let you have a wedge anyway - how do I get it to you ?
Cheers
Ian

Ian,
I think I have given you some duff information. I had assumed that you were looking for a standard 5/8" BSF nut. I should have checked the book for the pitch which is 14 TPI and you are looking for 16 TPI. You could try people who advertise in the Morris Register and their Morris 8 Co-ordinator Alun Spillman.
