Melvyn Tubb

Post by Ian Grace »

Just put a welcome on the website for Melvyn.

Further to that information, I can reveal that his car was previously (to the sixties) owned by a family who also owned a Bentley with a wooden back and P100 headlamps, so the Morris was (and still is) similarly equipped with a wooden rear and P80 headlamps. So it would be wonderful for the Measham - if it were VSCC eligible. :D

(Weren't P80s fitted to the likes of Alvis 12/50s?)

Anyone got some correct Lucas lamps for Melvyn?

Interestingly, this car was was first registered 18th February 1931 (my Birthday, but out out by a few years :D ) which makes it a quite early SV Minor. The chassis number is not known, but the engine is 1644, and remember that SV engines started at number 501, unlike the chassis that started with 101. The reason for this anomaly is lost in the swirling mists of too many single malts!

I think I've finally tracked down the chap who supplied my replica headlamps and who had a limited supply of brackets, albeit for the 34 wings! Stuart Joseph 01785 850916. Try him.
if it's got wheels or chips - it'll cost you dear
