The chassis number is SV24344, making this a 1932 Minor, supported by the registration date of 6/12/32 and 1932 tax disk with the car...

I suspect that this is a '34 Minor using a 1932 Minor logbook. I have asked the vendor to scrape the front dumbiron! :D

Incidentally, the vendor is looking for a head gasket - anyone know of a source of SV Minor gaskets?

Now I am confused. I have a e-mail from the vendor, Colin Sheeran, stating chassis number SV25344, and one from Compass Garage who checked the chassis number with Mike Houston's help (thanks, Mike!), and quote 34/MS/39552. I have e-mailed Colin to check that he is talking about the same car!

OK - clarifying e-mail from Compass Garage - the car they have on sale - with the 1934 chassis number - is JH 7194, a black '34 saloon. All as it should be.

However, SV 24344 (WJ 5453) is 1932, but is really a 1934 car! On sale on Car and Classics for Colin Sheeran. This is the car that needs its dumbiron scraped!

Had more feedback from the owner - with some lovely period pics for the Mag. It turns out that Colin's father used many replacement parts in the fifties to keep the caer going - including most of a 1934 saloon by the looks of it! The chassis and chassis plate all refer to the 1932 chassis and I have seen the 1932 tax disk. So it is very much a hybrid.

(I will try to persuade Colin to keep the car - I can't imagine selling a car that my father had owned for that long - specially with the journey log, etc. that goes with it.)

Well, I tried! Here's Colin's reply:

"hi ian. yes it has been a difficult decision to sell the morris and i have chosen a particulary bad time.but the car has been sat in my garage for the past four years and it has taken a considerable effort to get it back in running order .i have decided to by a caravan so i can take the family on wkend brakes and unfortunately i do not have the space for both.so the morris has to go hopefully to a good home. i have attached a pic of the car with i think its origional narrow wings .tyres.cross bar and rad cover.think that might be my late mother stood beside it. thanks colin."
