Smith shock absorber parts

Post by halbe »

Does anyone know where I can get spare parts for my Smith shock absorbers ?
I need all the rubber bushes and maybe some more bits as well (lining).

Hi Halbe, Try Graham Brown on 020 8651 5347. I know he does Hartfords and Luvax. Not sure about Smiths but he may point you in the right direction. He is very helpful. Mike.

Hi Halbe,
I got rubber bushes and friction material at Beaulieu this autumn from an Austin (not Seven) parts man. I will look up the details and post them later. You have made good progress to date. Keep up the good work.

I read a piece by Bev Hicks in one of the Morris Specials Group's newsletters that the cork lining of Smiths shock absorbers can be replaced by leather strapping. Sounds like a good suggestion. Anyone else heard of this trick?

I got my parts yesterday.
The lining is made of some sort of brake lining!(friction material)
Now I have to call these guys to ask them if I still need the absordite( grease) or that the lining alone is ok. :?
