Some new parts being made

Post by Ian Grace »

I'm having a few parts made right now and can have some additional ones made if anyone is in need. They are:

Battery boxes - ready to fit, just need drilling to match the bolt holes in your chassis and painting. Made in galvanized steel. Suit all Minors and early M's, I believe.

Bonnet step plates - the triangular platforms which sit atop the chassis rails. Two types - the OHC ones which have an additional triangular fillet at the back - behind the scuttle supports, and the SV type which don't. Also the 1929 type which are slightly different at the front to accept the early radiator mounting platform. Galvanized steel

Running board to front wing brackets - suit all Minors. Galvanized steel. Drilled with slotted holes as per original - just need painting.

Sets of scuttle tank straps.

Let me know soonest so I can order appropriately. Can't quote prices yet, but they will be reasonable and not too heavy to post from here.

Spare wheel wooden mounting blocks - suit saloons, tourers and 32-34 SV 2-seaters. These will be turned and drilled but you will need to finish the curve to suite your body type. Come complete with mounting coachbuilt, but not the steel spare wheel carrier itself.

Radiator tie rods - single 1929 type and double later type. BSF threaded but no forks for the front of the later ones. These should available elsewhere.

Any use to anyone?

Hi Colin,

The OHC and 1931 SV cars had fuel tanks mounted in the scuttle - on the back of the firewall. They were attached by a pair of two-piece steel straps. These are what are being made.

Halbe,

I had some of these made by a concern in Grand Rapids - before the great trek west. Currently don't have the opportunity to make any over here on the left coast - particulalry as someone has run off with ALL my Minor spares and patterns, it seems.

Similar situation with the battery boxes I'm afraid - although I do still have the card pattern.

Yeah - sorry about that Halbe (and others) - this was just before GE laid me off which started the chaos which ended with us moving to Seattle - so the spares situation got away from me.
