Photo album on eBay

Post by Ian Grace »

An unusual item. The record of a 6,500 mile trip from Portugal to Denmark in 1932. Starting price of GBP 249 is probably too high to attract any bids. It actually looks like an OHC fabric saloon with a boot added.

Anyone know what the Morris News Exchange was?

Don't bother checking out the seller's other items!

More info. from the vendor.

"Morris Minor 1931 - SV 1789 - engine 2486-A ;
ADICIONAL TRIP INFO - 10.472 Kms in 43 days, gas 7 lts/100 Km, xl castol oil 1,8 dl/100 Km. Sometimes attained 104 Km/h and often 90. 3 people and luggage on 840 cc;
Comments - brakes gets easily out of order. Assistance - Adjustment of valve clearance, and reset one sping. Change Castrol oil in Paris and Berlin.
Those 9 pics you can see on description are just an idea of those 110 pictures includes + 40 postcards + brochures, booklets, etc."

So it was an early SV fabric saloon, none of which appear to have survived.

What a wonderful item to own and to research. £250 does seem expensive especially when there is another £16 to add for postage. Not quite as intrepid as 'Turn Left.....' but a much more civilised form of adventure. The built on boot looks very similar to the one I found on an eBay Minor image I won a couple of years ago - that was also attached to a Fabric Saloon. See below:
