Two Saloons for sale

Post by chris lambert »

Two more Minors for sale, one in Wiltshire and one in the US. I feel sure Ken Martin knows about the Wiltshire car and its a safe bet that Ian is aware of the US based vehicle. This car is very pricey at £9k before the cost of shipping to the UK or elsewhere. Find them here:

Looks like the plate strippers have been at this one.

Hi Chris,
I see from the details this is an 1100cc engine. Is this something else I need to learn about Minors? Clive

Re the US car, owner's details: Jim Genack, 11613 Settlers Drive, Parker, CO 80134 (H) (+01) 720/949/0753 (M) (+01) 303/881/8614 buildit@attbi.com. Was memebr number 47 of the VMR until he decided to sell the car about two years ago. Wanted a silly prioce for it - and still does. Thinks he can get MG prices because of its M associations. He was originally asking $19,000 for it. Has 4 speed box, new ash frame, quite a few spares go with it. Chassis M15832, engine 16587. Currently licensed JD 47 in Colorado.

The Pewsey one is slightly bizarre. It is for sale by Mike Reeder who had two maroon saloons - Jeremy Evans' DF was one of them, and the other was DY 6083 recently bought from him by Andrew Marx who joined as member number 288 not long ago, and which looks suspicioulsy like this car. So it looks like Andrew has cashed it back in. Ken Martin may know more.

The mystery deepens. Andrew Marx has confirmed to me that this is certainly NOT his car...

I have e-mailed Mike Reeder for clarification.

Looks like the pic in Mike Reeder's advert IS Andrew's car - compare with this pic of DY 6083. So presumably the car for sale isn't the same example as the one depicted in the advert.

Interesting that it has no V5, so may have been unearthed from lengthy slumber. Also interesting to learn that the Minor first appeared in 1948!

In this photo, the number plate of DY appears to be stuck on with gaffer tape. If I were Andrew, after seeing this advert, I'd make sure I had the right car in my garage.

When I first saw this car at Mike's garage years ago, she had the plates on from DF 9053...although of course I knew that she was not DF. DF was residing a few miles down the road. The previous owner who had both cars clearly resented paying for more than one road tax in the days when you had to pay ! I also thought it strange that both DY and DF were sporting Wolseley Hornet type calormeters ! The car in the first photo certainly looks like DF's stablemate......very odd.
