Summer Rally 2008 Accomodation List

Post by chris lambert »

LOCAL RALLY ACCOMMODATION
I have listed below the names and addresses of just some of the hotels and B & B's that are 'localish' to the base for our rally at Thorpe Abbotts. There are many, many more out there (B&B's that is) with a range of prices. The two B&B's of which I have some knowledge are:

The Suffolk Barn, Wattisfield 01359 251251 http://www.suffolkcamra.co.uk/pubs/992
Reasonable prices, good sized rooms and a fantastic English breakfast. I think the Dutch contingent might be staying here.
Only two doubles left available at £50 per night - ideal if you are trailoring as they have a very large car park.

The Bell Inn, Rickinghall http://www.thebellrickinghall.com 01379 898445
This pub is located just across the road from where I live. Reasonably priced and comfortable rooms. Breakfasts also very good.
Double rooms are all en suite and are £55 per night

Local Hotels

The Park Hotel, Diss http://www.parkhotel-diss.co.uk 01379 642244
Located centrally in Diss, just 5 miles or so from Thorpe Abbotts
Double rooms are £65 per night and there are currently plenty of rooms available. (Same price for twin bedded room)

The Cornwallis Hotel Brome http://www.oxfordhotelsandinns.com/cornwallis 01379 870326
A lovely hotel even closer to the venue.
Double rooms here are £113 per night but availability is getting tight although it is only early March. If you wish to stay here - book very quickly.

The Four Horshoes, Thornham Magna No web site but google the name and on line booking agencies details will show images and enable booking. Alternatively call 01379 678777
12th century Inn. Large car park. Home to the Sunday night Rally 'au revoir'.
Room prices are £65 per night for an en suite double room, £45 per night for a single and £80 per night for their family room which has two double beds.

The Bull Auberge, Brome (Between Yaxley and Diss on the A140) http://www.the-auberge.co.uk 01379 783604
A lovely small hotel. Their restaurant has an excellent reputation in the area.
This hotel has just two double rooms available for all three nights. Normal rate is £90 per room per night. We have a special rate of £70 per night (mention Vintage Minor Register)

Six Bells Inn, Bardwell http://www.sixbellsbardwell.co.uk 01359 250820
A traditional Inn located a little further away than those detailed above.
I will edit later detailing their rates.

As mentioned earlier there are also lots of B&B's from which to select suitable accommodation.

A very pleasant image of Fiona Harrison in 'Andrew Sister' mode. Thought you might like to see it.

Edited to add: I didn't mean to post this to this thread - now how can I move it without deleting it and starting again?

You'll find there's one less room available at the shoes, now! Looking forward to it, just have to get a 4 seater on the road :?
