Light Car Welsh - 29th/30th March

Post by Ian Grace »

Who is going? There was a time when we managed to muster 12 entries, but things seem to have gone off the boil a bit lately. I'll check with Andy Tongue to see who is entered. Entry form and regs, etc. downloadable from the VMR website if you need them.

(Jeremy, I'm getting my entry ready for 2019! :D )

Ian,
By 2019 I might have improved my trials ability!

DF is entered, both days, and looking forward to it. Booked the hotel for the over night today.

Cheers
Jeremy

Great! I have not yet heard back from the Section regarding any other Minor entries, but there will be Questions in the House if you are the only one. :D

I am sure there will be other Minors out, as you say it normally gets quite a few. We missed last year as the engine was out so very much looking forward to the event as our last outing was the Welsh Rally in October '07.

I hope that we can do better than our first go at the Light Car weekend. Last time the carburettor came loose! Our score on the trial sections was poor to say the least, I blamed the tyres (Avon side car) but I am sure most of it was my fault!

Tips anyone?

Cheers

This just in from Andy and Charlotte:

Hi Ian,

We are doing really well for entries - with 5 days to go, the tour is just about full and the trial healthy too, so I am not sure any further prodding is needed - thank you for the kind offer all the same.

From the Minor gang, we have:

David Rolfe
Robin Harcourt-Smith
Colin Lee
Max Gardiner
David Whittle
Laura Hamilton-Gould
Dennis Johnson
Brian Maeers

Not bad, eh?

Best wishes,

Andrew

And that list doesn't include Jeremy - so nine Minors, just a couple short of the record! No Paul Rogers on that list either, perhaps he is competing in something else this year or maybe is another late entry. I attended in in 05 and took some photos and wherever I turned there was a Minor:

Good Evening All, Saw the start of the motor cycle Pioneer Run this morning . I was the only Minor there. About 30 vintage cars in the car park. Went over to Brooklands for the Austin/Morris day. I was the only minor there. About a dozen Morris other models but 30 vintage Austin 7s, 30 post vintage sevens and dozens of vintage austins larger HP. Lots of 50//60 Morris minors. I promised a pint to every minor driver so had a sober day!!!! Are there no running Morris Minors in the south east of England or was it that Scotland beat England on Saturday!!!!!! Highlander.

Brian ,

Never mind, Jeremy Evans will be there in his saloon - so the numbers are maintained! This is an excellent turnout once again. Have fun, everyone - Jayne and I will be in the Dutch Antilles over that weekend, so the Welsh will be FAR from our thoughts :D :D :D
