March Newsletter

Post by Ian Grace »

Went out last night, but not to about 30 e-mail addresses which have previously bounced, but may still be valid. For example, if your In Box was full at some time in the past, and a Newsletter bounced, then it gets marked as such in iBuilder (the tool I use to create and distribute the Newsletters), and then I cannot send any more to you without contacting iBuilder Tech Support to reset all the buncers. But then, I end up sending dozens of further Newsletters which I know are going to bounce and that is a waste of money.

So...if you didn't receive your Newesletter (and the EMS one) this morning, then please let me know and possibly offer an alternative e-mail address. The addressee list is regenerated and uploaded every month from the curent Members' List (the one in the Members' Area) just before the Newsletters are launched.

Calling Paul Harris. You unsubscribed at some time in the past - presumably when you temporarily left the Register, so I cannot send Newsleters to you - if you want them. Do you have an alternative address? If not, then I need written confirmation from you that you want them again wehich I'll need to send to iBuilder HQ - needed to satify strict spam rules.

Isn't technology wonderful?

Ian, I understand that several servers treat multiple mailings as spam.
So if members check their deleted mail box or spam box they may find the news letter.
Also I believe that if the sender (in this case you) is put in the address book of the receiver then spam detectors will let multiple mailings through. Hope this solves the problem for some members.

That's right. On the foot of the Newsletter is the following:

"NOTE: If you have the option to do so, please add us to your 'approved', 'buddy', 'safe' or 'trusted sender' list to prevent your ISP's filter from blocking future e-mail messages from the Register. Thank you."

But not much use if you don't get it in the first place! :D

Thats what I thought and why I put it on the forum. For members who don't read this and who also bounced if you get five minutes you could try a ''small batch ' mailing to see if they get through.

Ian,
Yes, I'm here! ......and would like to receive Newsletters as before. Is this sufficient, or do you mean written as in posting you a snail mail letter ? Happy to do this if that is what is needed.

Paul.

Paul,

I'll forward you the e-mail I got from iBuilder tech support. I think you need to write to them. In the meantime, I'll send you the text of both Newsletters by e-mail later today.

OK - I have now uploaded a new page in the Members' Area which links to copies of the Newsletters in .pdf format, like the Magazine - and starting with the March 2008 issue. This partially gets around problems some members are having with bounced e-mails, resubscribing, changed e-mail addresses, etc. Upcoming issues will be uploaded to the Members' Area simultaneously with the distribution through iBuilder.

I have done the same for the EMS Newsletters in the EMS website Members' Area. I cannot check out my updates from the office PC - the firewall doesn't let me refresh pages in my browser for some reason. If anyone sees any screw-ups, please let me know. :D

Alister,

You opened the March EMS Newsletter at 5:52 and 32 seconds a.m. Pacific Standard Time on February 29th and your March VMR Newsletter at 6:24 and 22 seconds a.m.

You are being watched. :D :D :D

Here is a full listing of VMR openers - 79 in all, out of 134 sent, so a 59% opener ratio. Jack Blyth wins the prize for the fastest opener - just four minutes after it launched into the ether. At the other end of the scale, Chris Moorhouse took 11 days.
