hi Ian,

Lets wait and see......of the four gaps ,three are just the way VG left the factory, nothing changed there whatsoever.......only the beam at the front has some room for adjusting. So in theory if one would use the same size piping all should be well..................I'll keep my fingers crossed never the less.

Great winter progress.

Interested in how you covered thd scuttle. Did you do this with the body attached to the firewall? Isn't the fabric sandwiched between thd two assemblies?

Hi Ian,

The fabric is just attached to the body followed by some beading and a rubber profile for the bonnet .
Here is a picture of the original and the new version.

Thanks Halbe - interesting - so you CAN re-fabric without having to release the body from the firewall assembly.

Explain this to me please - I notice that you have wrapped the leaf springs with rope - why?

Thomas,
Can't answer for Halbe but leaf springs were often bound with cord in the 30's, & 40's to stiffen them for sporting purposes. My springs are greased and then bound in Denso tape (a tape developed to protect pipes and cables underground and in concrete) which does keep them lubricated and free from rust.

Hi Thomas,

Phillip is right, the roads back in the twenties and thirties were a lot worse than today so the effect was not only to stiffen the springs a bit but also to keep the dirt out and the grease inside.
For me I just like the way they look, Philip has the more effective solution.

update,

Nearly done all the fabricing! working on the beading.
I am still looking for a J type profile to use on the roof .In rubber nothing is available so an aluminium profile might do the trick...

Hello,

After a period in my life full of trouble its time to get back to my Minor :)
while the painter is busy and the chrome is being done I have been busy on the interior keeping as much of the original material as possible.
A lot has been done in the last 6 month so here is a quick summary in pictures.
