Three speed to four speed gearbox change.

Post by sv4670 »

Could some kind soul tell me what are the implications of swapping a MG M type three speed to a four speed crash gearbox from a Minor? Is the 4 speed heavier? Does the propshaft require shortening?

I think the biggest impact is on the wallet!

But seriously, I think they both take a 34.5 inch prop shaft. And I don't think there is a significant weight issue.

But if you fit a 1934 SV Minor 4-speed synchro box, it is MUCH heavier, so go for the 4-speed crash box which is a super box.
