Sump capcity

Post by Cooperman »

I have an early M type with a tin sump. Can anyone (probably be Ian) tell how much oil it will hold?

Perhaps I can! According to data on the website (Site Index/Technical details), the sump capacity 4 pints and 3 fluid ounces!

And i'd actually recommend, slightly under-filling the sump. Modern oils are so much better than the pre-war oils and under-filling will reduce oil burning and the chance of oil ingress into the clutch.

If I use your figures I shall probably underfill it as I have a full flow oil filter system. Thanks anyway
