Opening up read access to the forum

For a trial period, starting today, the forum has been configured to allow open public read access without the need to log in. This means that readership of the forum can be greatly expanded, and also means that registered forumists don't have to log on every time they want to see what's going on on the forum. Write access will continue to require registration and logging on.
This arrangement brings us into line with other forums, such as the MMM MG forum and means that, for example, requests for historical information, for sale and wanted adverts, etc. will attract a much wider readership.
If the trial is successful, we will continue this arrangement.
