Just a reminder to make your plans for Drive It Day. Do head for your local if your car is running and please remember to take your camera!

Who is planning to go where this year?

We will be joining the "Stilton Run" from Uppngham to Stilton.
From home that will be a 100 mile round trip. Should be entertaining with a good collection of historic vehicles and a good test run for our "Around the Edge" exploits in May.
Details of this can be seen at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/martinpwmn

Out and about early in Newcastle upon Tyne on ‘Drive-It-Day’,
(back in time for the London Marathon on TV... inspiring).
Newcastle Quayside. Setting up for the weekly Sunday market in the shadow of the Tyne Bridge.
The castle, which gives Newcastle it's name, dates from medieval times.
Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art was converted from a former Rank Hovis flour mill, which closed in 1981.

No local events so just went round the local villages enjoying the Herefordshire sunshine.

Finally got KR 5670 sorted enough to drive today - first time the car has been driven for over forty years. Kept it on the property until I build up trust in it, but I must say it drove faultlessly. ut about a mile on it through the day.

The Stilton Run turned into rather a non event for me.
We arrived early in Uppingham and met with a contingent of Leicestershire MR friends.
We set off for Stilton, but my oil leak had reappeared so we left the run after lunch at Bulwick and enjoyed the best part of the day in glorious sun driving back home to put the car through another bout of flywheel removal.
Did get a couple of good shots at the Harringworth Viaduct: 3/4 of a mile long and completed in 1878.
Right now the car is in the garage with gearbox and clutch removed ready to take off the flywheel tomorrow and hopeful repair the leak once and for all.

I forgot to take any photos but I did have my dash cam running, other than speed limited sections and the hill at the start most of the journey was taken at 50mph.

Here's Ray and Viv's tourer out and about on Drive-it Day down in deepest Dorset - seen waiting patiently outside the Trooper Inn, at Stourton Caundle. I wonder where Ray and Viv are? 8)

This just in from Frank Ashley:

Hi Ian,

I haven't got any pictures of what I was doing on "Drive it Day" but the attached may give you an idea.

Kind regards, Frank
