Dirty Cranks

I thought I would put some of my recent experience on this forum to help others.
I am in the process of rebuilding a SV engine and have done what I always do and removed the bungs in the crank to clean it out. I would recommend this to everyone during a rebuild as on this present engine I cleaned out enough gunge to make a golf ball.
If this gunge is not cleaned out when you start running your newly rebuilt engine with modern detergent oil all the gunge will wash into your big ends.
