Hi All,

I was talking to someone recently about headlights etc and he said he had one headlamp that kept flickering and would sometime go out completely. It turned out to be bad earthing. The guilty headlamp relied on the fixing bolt for earth and was not making a good earth. I always run a separate earth wire to each lamp from the chassis. Quite a good idea for earthing is to drill a hole through the chassis, front and rear. Clean around both sides of the hole back to bright metal.
Run a piece of studding a couple of inches long through the hole and lock it on with a couple of spring washers and lock nuts.
leave equal amount of stud protruding either side. You can then add an earth wires as you need them without the need for disturbing the existing ones or drilling further holes, just slip the wire eye over the stud and lock it on with another washer and lock nut. Remember to use new clean nuts and washers each time.

Good Luck, Mike.
