Mike Norrey asked me to post this for him. He reports:

"This chalked signature is one that I came across during my ‘stripping down’ of MU 2165. The inscription is on the inside of the Minor’s footwell (drivers side) and could possibly be either the original coach-builder or a production worker when the vehicle was under erection at the factory. I cannot believe it was introduced subsequent to the installation of the original interior panelling. The general consensus of the persons locally believe it to be D Mawe or D Maws. We have tried to identify the person from the 1911 census records, the NMM-Motoring Research Services at Beaulieu and Gaydon without success. Regards, Mike"

I have seen many such chalked names on the inside of trim panels before, but not on the inside of the steel panelling.
