Rear Engine Mounts

Post by crusher »

Can someone tell me the correct size of the rubber rear engine mounts on a '29 Minor or whether the one's listed below are correct.
I have 4 rubber mounts which appear to be original Morris Minor "new old stock", the rubber is in good condition but seems quite hard.
They measure 1 19/64" H x 2 1/4" W with a 3/4" wide metal band around them.
The hole is the correct diameter for the tube in the mount.
Thanks, Allan Coates (in Australia)

Minor Engine Mountings

Post by Tony Gamble »

According to Harry Edwards catalogue [ Yesterday's Components Ltd. ] the engine mountings for the Minor are rubber with no metal bands around.
Front Mountings are 1 3/8 " dia. and 5/8 " thick
Rear Mountings are 1 3/4 " dia. and 1 " thick.

I think that the mountings with bands round are M8 !

Hope this helps. The alignment of the prop shaft can be awkward if you get the mounting wrong , as I'm sure you may have found.

Good luck.

I get my rear engine mounts fromm Mike Dowley at Sports & Vintage, and his all have steel bands around them - presumably to stop the rubber spreading under the weight of the engine.
