Rear Wheel Arches - Coachbuilt Saloons

Post by DF9053 »

I have been looking into the history of my saloon - DF9053.

In this quest for information it has come to light that the body currently fitted to DF9053 is from a very early saloon dating from October 1929 chassis no MM14676 registered MM9385. Linked with this comment are the facts that the car has fabricated rather than pressed rear wheel arches and separate aluminum mouldings running down the sides rather than the shape being pressed into the steel.

Realising that many coachbuilt saloons will have rusted out thier wheel arches many moons ago I am asking owners to reflect on whether thier cars have/had fabricated arches or ones with the shape pressed from a single piece of metal.

Further do these cars have pressed mouldings or a separate aluminium strip nailed/screwed onto the side of the car.

Many thanks
Jeremy
