Hi Kartik,

The horn button should be a small device fitted on a steel strap and attached to the steering column about 3" below the steering wheel and positioned pointing to the right.

Someone with an OHC tourer should be able to provide a photo/dimensions of the hood rests.

If you let me know what other specifics you need guidance on, I'll see what I can do. Does your car have the small hand controls (slow running and mixture) which are attached below the wooden instrument board? Do you also have the ignition advance/retard rod? The ignition switch is integral with the instrument panel which I sent you.

out of action for a while, out of country, hiking/ river rafting in Nepal,
would reach India tomorrow and can't wait to see the progress on the car.

Meanwhile, all the best for the event at Prescott !!

Some pictures of the body after the first coat of primer.
Though more body works needs to be done even now.

Meanwhile, the gear work is complete with new bearings, and work on engine in on track.
Hopefully we'd be able to assemble the engine and fire it up by end of this month.

Looking good Kartik.

I'm not sure what your top colour is going to be, but the screen side pillars should be black, as should the scuttle supports. A bit surprised to see the entire scuttle and all its fittings painted in primer!

Hi Ian,

its good to see you back on the forum, it A'int the same when you are not there. :D

Planning to go in for Dark green color for the car.
you are right the scuttle and the supports should be all black and would be,
we just had to put the primer asap to prevent from rust because of monsoon rains here.

Thanks

Ian,

The car doesnt have the slow running and mixture controls, though it does have the ignition adv/retard rod.
can you guide me, as to where can they be sourced from and how they work.

another thing ,was wondering whether these cars came with just the ignition switches or Did they even have ignition keys ?

Searching for Smiths PC speedometer, I came across this one :

Image

Is this the correct type for OHC minor ?

What is different is that there are two sets of numbers, I think Miles and KMs....

That is the correct speedometer for OHC Minors as it has PC just above the needle pivot.

Hi,

Over the last few months , I have been able to source a lot of required parts from ebay and the other supliers, but still
few items are seeming impossible to find :

The Lucas 1120 side lamps , and The Smiths PC speedo , another Item that I am now looking for is the correct Horn for '30's ohv tourer.
I belive it was fitted with a lucas/sparton horn.

favor I need now is to get a picture of the correct horn and if anybody can help me in sourcing it.

Also it seems impossible to get the correct side lamps, so if some one could kindly give me all the possible measurements and
a few pictures from all angles, than maybe I'd try to get them fabricated here.

Thanks,
Kartik

Hi Kartik,

Well, I believe the correct horn was a "Rist Horn". Reproductions are to be found on the following site:

http://www.austinrepro.com/general.htm.

However, please confirm that the "Rist Horn" is indeed what was the original horn. Ian, anybody else, am I right or wrong ?

And congratulations on the fabulous progress !! Mine is going at a snail's pace in comparison !

Hi Parth,

Thanks for your reply, The correct type horn would be the Lucas sparton horn,
which look very much similar to the Rist Horn.

Thanks for the Austin website too.
Look forward to more news of your progress.

Cheers
Kartik

Hi Kartik,

I have three horns - a 12V Sparton, a 6V Sparton that needs the armatuure rewinding and a smaller horn that isn't Sparton. All are available!
