Oil Pipe Diameter

Post by Jpallis001 »

Hi - I am going to have to make an oil pick-up pipe (sump to pump) - what internal diameter is the original copper pipe?

On my sidevalve it isa an external feed. dimensions are: 0.385", 9.6 mm external. It is difficult to say what the internal is because the end gets distorted when tightened up but is close enough to 7mm or 0.28".
I therefore assume it is nominal either 3/8" or 10mm external.
In a perfect (motoring) world presumption and ignorance will win over expertise and skill.

thanks, that really helps. 3/8 Bsp -> 10mm compression fittings are available, so should be able to make one quite easily +cheaply.
